I am a big proponent of mac shareware, it is what makes my mac go. While I spend a lot of time using mail.app, Safari/Firefox and other big company software, most of the software I use on my macs is shareware. If a program will save me time or reduce my aggravation, the small registration fee is worth every penny to me.
I recently found two ways to save big bucks on some of these great applications. I wish I had found these a few years ago, it would have saved my major money.

MacUpdate, the best repository of up to date mac software around, runs MUPromo. Monday through Friday, they offer a different piece of mac software available at a discounted price for 24 hours. The discounts are typically 30 - 50% off, and are well known programs. MUPromo offers a great RSS feed so you can keep track of what is offered on a daily basis.

MacZot is a fairly new site, launched in December 2006. MacZot does one thing, and does it well. Monday through Saturday, they offer a mac application at a discounted price, similar to MUPromo. One thing MacZot does different is from time to time, they offer bundles at crazy prices. A few weeks ago, I got 13 great pieces of mac shareware for $13. I got RapidWeaver iClip and AppZaper plus 10 more great programs. While MacZot has not yet announced another great bundle deal, it is still worth stopping by daily to see what great deal they are offering. While MacZot does not offer an RSS feed, once you sign up, you can set up a daily email with the daily special. One other reason to stop by, one click of the mouse enters you into a drawing for a free copy of the daily deal.
