Box.net is a great online file storage option. While they do not give you the most space in their free plan, they are very innovative in the options they offer their users. Box.net recently released two great utilities for sharing your stored files.
The first option is an embedded widget that you can put on your website to share files with visitors. This is a great option if you have something you want your guests to download, but you don’t want to use up your own bandwidth to do so. Here is an example I created in about 30 seconds:
The size and layout of the widget are customizable, so you can make it fit on your site where you prefer.
The second option is the one I use just about every day. I use NetVibes all day long every day. It is always open. I also work at my office and at home, and I often have to take files home with me. Rather than buying another USB flash card (I have had about 20 of them now, I just can’t keep track of them), I started using Box.net service in Netvibes, since I have my page open all day long anyways. Just upload a file, and it is stored on Box.net servers, but I have access to it at home or on the road.

Extremely convenient, great free service. Box.net gives you up to 1G free, but a 5G account will cost you $5 per month, still cheaper than buying a new USB Flash drive each month.

1Hi, Glad to see you enjoy our products!
Just wanted to let you know about our new widget
http://www.box.net/get
It lets other users upload directly to the widget, has password protection, and streams any kind of media.
Let me know what you think and enjoy!
