Apple unveiled updated MacBooks this morning, featuring the Core 2 Duo chip from Intel.

November 8, 2006—Apple® today unveiled its new line of MacBook™ consumer notebooks that now include Intel Core 2 Duo processors. Just one-inch thin, the new MacBooks are up to 25 percent faster than the previous generation and feature a built-in iSight® video camera for on-the-go video conferencing, Apple’s MagSafe™ Power Adapter that safely disconnects when under strain, and iLife® ‘06, Apple’s award-winning suite of digital lifestyle applications.

Apple retained the three models, with 1.83 GHz and 2.0 GHz models in white, and a 2.0 GHz in Black:

$1099: (White) 13.3″, 1.83GHz, 512MB, 60GB, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
$1299: (White) 13.3″, 2.0GHz, 1GB, 80GB, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
$1499: (Black) 13.3″, 2.0GHz, 1GB, 120GB, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950

These models available immediately from the apple store, with many build to suite options available.

In related news, apple inadvertently placed a Core 2 Duo logo on the Mac Mini page, with a link from the logo to the following URL:

http://www.apple.com/macmini/intelcore2duo.html

If it had just been the logo on the page, you could chalk that up to a mistake by a designer, it has been done before several times at apple.com, but the fact it linked to a specific Core 2 Duo page makes one thing something is on the horizon. The Mac Mini is the only remaining mac that has not yet been updated. Rumor from around the web is that updated minis will appear sometime next week. Good thing, I need to update my mini, so I think I will wait a little while.
