Apple has finally updated the webmail component of their .Mac service. Now resembling the Mail.app programs that ships with OSX, and choc full of Ajax and other web tricks, it does it’s best to replicate the off-line experience. You can now drag and drop messages between folders, add images to emails similar to the mail.app program.

.Mac Mail

Recent updates to hotmail and Yahoo mail, along with Gmail have these same features, similar or bigger storage and all for free. While it is great to see .Mac keeping up with the trends, the $99 per year fee has got to be killing their adoption rate. Granted, you get more applications than just the webmail (iDisk, syncing and backup), but it is a lot of money if you have free options that offer similar results.

For more information about the updated features, check out the .Mac Webmail Update page.
